FAQ

This FAQ page was last updated on October 3, 2017.

1. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located in the unincorporated part of Columbia County, Oregon, approximately 6 miles west of Saint Helens, and 33 miles northwest of downtown Portland. You can reach Estancia Serenova from much of the Greater Portland area by car within an hour.

2. IS THERE A PUBLIC TRANSIT SERVICE AVAILABLE?

The Columbia County Rider provides limited intercity bus services from downtown St. Helens to Portland, Hillsboro (PCC Rock Creek and Willow Creek TC MAX Station), Scappoose, Rainier, and Clatskanie, as well as to Kelso/Longview, Washington. These buses are only in service on weekdays only and the fares range from $6 to $8 one-way (Line 1 between Portland and St. Helens operates on Saturdays and Sundays with a reduced schedule of four trips each way). Each CC Rider bus is equipped with a bicycle rack that can hold two or three bikes. There are no CC Rider services on national holidays, and except for Line 1 (Portland-St. Helens) all buses operate only on weekdays.

The nearest CC Rider bus stop is at the Rite Aid/Safeway shopping center at the corner of Highway 30 and Gable Road.

Bicycling from the bus stop takes about 35 to 45 minutes (via Highway 30, Sykes Road, Barr Avenue, and Pittsburg Road) and has moderate slopes.

Free transportation to/from downtown St. Helens Safeway or to/from CC Rider St. Helens Transit Center may be arranged by contacting in advance.

3. WHAT ARE YOUR BUSINESS HOURS? CAN I STOP BY?

We are only able to offer tours by advance appointment only.

4. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HOLD AN EVENT THERE?

See rentals information.

5. DO YOU PROVIDE FOODSERVICE OR REFRESHMENTS?

Not at this time. We are presently working on extensive renovation of the main building where there will be a licensed commercial kitchen. This will be ready in the 2018 season.

In the meanwhile, we can recommend several local businesses that provide excellent catering services.

For a smaller group, it may also be a good idea to order takeouts from one of many restaurants in downtown Saint Helens.

6. ARE THERE DINING OPTIONS FOR VEGANS, GLUTEN-FREE, ETC.?

Saint Helens area, being a small rural town, is rather limited in dining options although there are a handful of excellent restaurants owned by locals. There are no certified Kosher or Halal restaurants in Saint Helens or in Columbia County, but typical national brand certified Kosher grocery items that are available at local supermarkets (Safeway, Walmart, and Market Fresh). Nearly all Kosher food items are also Halal. There are several Kosher and Halal caterers, however, in Portland.

Many restaurants in Saint Helens offer a small selection of ovo- and/or lacto-vegetarian menu items. It seems to be quite a challenge, however, to find vegan items.

Local restaurants with vegan options:

Once again, options are very limited in Columbia County. It may be a good idea to order and bring something from Portland.

7. ARE YOU A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?

No.

8. DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTED RATES FOR 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS?

Our rates reflect the reasonable amount of revenue we need to cover our bills and expenses, as well as to reinvest in the ongoing capital improvement projects to make Estancia Serenova a great place. As such we don’t have a special discount program for non-profits; however, we are very flexible and everything is negotiable. We strive to meet your organization’s unique needs and are open for discussion on this matter.

9. ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH ANY RELIGIOUS GROUP?

No. We welcome all to Estancia Serenova regardless of their religious affiliations or lack thereof. Likewise, we welcome your church/synagogue/temple groups, covens, etc., to utilize our facilities on an equal basis.

10. DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS FOR RESERVATIONS OR FOR PAYMENT?

Not at this time. Checks and cash are accepted. (Exceptions: If you are reserving a cabin for your own personal retreat, credit/debit cards are processed through Hipcamp.)

11. IS THERE A MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE THERE?

Verizon Wireless – LTE and 3G networks
Cricket -- 4G network
Tracfone Wireless, Net10 Wireless, Telcel America, or StraightTalk Wireless (with phone models ending with suffix C or VL only) Sprint phones with roaming activated may also be used, but there may be an extra charge for roaming use.

12. IS THERE A WI-FI® ON SITE?

At this time we have no Wi-Fi® for public use. If you need Internet connection for an event, you might want to purchase a prepaid Verizon® EllipsisTM Jetpack mobile hotspot at the Verizon Wireless authorized retailer on Gable Road just off Highway 30 (next to Starbucks). No other mobile Internet services are available here. If you plan on using slideshows, audio, or video during your event, you may want to bring them on USB drives or DVD-ROM instead.
